Three stolen Cars in Barry County ends with high speed pursuit of Suspect

 

 Sheriff Mick Epperly announced today that Barry County Officers, Monett Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol were involved in a high speed car chase that ended with the suspect wrecking the vehicle he was driving.  According to Sheriff Epperly three vehicles were stolen overnight, the first vehicle – a dodge flatbed was stolen from Purdy and taken to another location in Purdy where it was abandoned and another vehicle – an 86 olds was stolen, this vehicle was driven to another location in Purdy where it was abandoned and a 1997 black mustang was taken.  Monett Officers initiated a pursuit of the Mustang at which time the driver ran into two Monett Police cars causing minor damage, the pursuit then continued onto Farm Road1050 off of 60 Hwy.  The driver finally wrecked the Mustang on Farm Road 2020 east of 1050 where he hit a telephone pole.  Officers were able to take the driver into custody at that time.  The driver 21 year old Cody Dobyns of Monett has been charged with 3 counts of Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree and 1 count of Posession of a Controlled Substance – Bond has been set a $25,000 cash or surety
