Noise Complaint results in Drug Arrest

On 8-26-2013 at approximately 0330 hours, Deputy Ruark and Sgt. Evenson were dispatched to the storage units on 8th Street in Washburn in reference to a noise complaint and suspicious person call.  It was reported that there were at least two pickup trucks and a motorcycle at the storage units and they were yelling and revving their engines, bothering the caller.  When officers arrived the vehicles had left.  Deputy Evenson caught up with a  white Chevy truck leaving 8th Street and turning east on 90 highway.  At this time the occupants of the vehicle told Sgt. Evenson they were helping someone at the storage buildings. Sgt. Evenson checked them for warrants and let the vehicle leave.   Officers made contact with a subject at one of the storage units and was told that they did not know who was in the white chevy truck.  Realizing that they were lied to by the occupants in the White Chevy Truck, Deputy Ruark made another stop on the vehicle at the intersection of 76 and 37 hwy.  One occupant in the vehicle was arrested when officers discovered a blue zipper bag in a female subjects  purse contained a small bag of marijuana and a white powder substance believed to be methamphetamines..  29 year old Melissa Lopez of Neosho, Mo  was taken into custody and transported to the Barry County Jail.  While in route to the jail officers asked Lopez if she had any other drugs on her person, Lopez stated that she did have and officers seized a rock substance out of Lopez’s waistband.  The rock substance is believed to be crystal meth.  Lopez is currently being held and the Barry County Jail and has been charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and has a 10,000 cash or surety bond.
