                                    Monett Man Charged for Firing Handgun out Car Window

On 8/26/13 at approximately 1852 hours, Deputy Kerry Headrick was dispatched to a residence located on Farm Road 1057 in Monett for a person shooting a handgun at children who were in a backyard of a residence.  When Deputy Headrick arrived the parents of the children stated that they were inside the home when they heard what sounded like gunshots outside behind their house.  They went outside and observed an older maroon station wagon turn north onto Farm Road 1057 from Farm Road 2057.  As the vehicle was travelling north, they heard another gunshot.  Deputy Headrick talked to the children and learned that they were playing in the back yard when they observed a  maroon station wagon stopped on Farm Road 2057 , the passenger in the vehicle who was sitting directly behind the driver of the vehicle extended a black handgun out the window pointed it at them and fired a shot.  Detective Doug Henry was called to the scene.  Not only did the children tell him the shots fired story, but a female jogger who was running south on Farm Road 1057 stated that she heard gun shots.  She observed a vehicle accelerate toward her and heard another gun shot as it was approaching her, she stated that she noticed four individuals in the vehicle and that they had firearms.  Missouri State Trooper Sgt. Gary Horton observed the suspect vehicle at Herds Truck Stop in Monett.  During a search of the vehicle, Officers located a .45 cal handgun and a magazine for the .45 cal handgun.  A passenger in the vehicle stated that 35 year old Troy Hinkle of Monett, Mo was the person inside the vehicle who was firing the weapon out the window.  Hinkle was arrested and charged with  Disharging a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle bond has been set at 50,000 cash only.
